HTC Cheap Smartphone to Propel Company to the Mobile Mainstream

Tuesday January 12, 2010

The conveyer belt of 2010 mobile phone announcements shows no sign of slowing down as HTC reveal their hand – a touchscreen smartphone using niether Windows Mobile or Android.

The HTC Smart is geared towards the lower end of the market and will be accessibly priced to corner a larger share, helping the company break into the mainstream.

The phone will use humble OS Brew, a system devloped by chip manufacturer Qualcomm, which can be found on INQ’s Mini 3G model.

The Smart will be touted to the world in Spring but as yet no word on any UK partnerships.

Details of the phone are mostly under wraps but word round the campfire has the model with a two megapixel camera, no Wi-Fi but Flash video playback.

The company is hoping that making use of Brew will encourage new and old third-party developers to craft applications as Brew is technically an easy OS to construct apps and games for.
